Assembly Hacks

Over the years, we at FPAC have put hundreds of IKEA and flatpack furniture pieces together. Our skilled assembly experts have learned some useful tips and tactics to streamline the process from that experience. Sort and arrange all of the parts, including the hardware, fasteners, panels, shelves, etc., thoroughly before you begin building. Verify that you have every component by comparing them to the inventory list that is provided. Having everything sorted and accounted for will save lots of headaches down the road.

Get Organized

Read First, Build Second

Even though it might seem apparent, it’s important to read the directions through completely first. Before you ever take up a tool, be sure you understand every step thoroughly. Make a note of any sections that don’t make sense so you can focus more.

Having Issues?
Walk Away

Examine it once again later, with new insight. Making progress when agitated frequently results in errors. If you want expert support, FPAC is always available!

Tighten
Gradually

Wait until the very end to fully tighten any bolts, screws, or other fasteners. When assembly, gradually tighten them to accommodate modifications.

Check
Alignment

Don’t merely jam parts together while joining them. Make sure the holes and grooves are aligned correctly by using them as a reference. This accuracy up front avoids shifting and gaps down the road.

Gather the
Right Tools

Your life will be considerably simpler if you use the suggested tools. Never attempt to make do with tools not intended for assembling furniture. At minimum, have a rubber mallet, furniture pencil and basic screwdrivers on hand.
